The work plays with the past and future, both literally and figuratively. The future is expressed by the style of the helmet, which has a futuristic design.

The past is represented figuratively by the wearer of the helmet looking at the metal and thus seeing what is happening behind him, rather than what lies ahead.

The helmet creates a dialogue between the future and the past: we move toward the future with everything we have already seen and experienced inthe past.
